Unless you are one of the incredibly lucky, talent isn’t something you’re born with. It’s something you have to work on to develop. It doesn’t’ matter if it’s drawing, skiing, or playing chess any talent or skill takes time and practice to master. For the longest time it was thought learning a new skill was only attainable at a young age while the brain was still making new connections and growing. But thankfully, Oxford university embarked on a study back in 2009 to test the adult brain and found that through dedicated practice new neuron bundles in the white matter of the brain could be grown later in life. And the best part is they did it by learning to juggle. You can read a synopsis of the results here. So if you feel like your mind is slowing down a bit, learn a new a new language, pick up a new sport, or try a new game, something you’ve always wanted to do but never thought you could. Not only will you surprise yourself, but you’ll make your brain grow too. And as always, read more comics!
